Activist Investors - Friends or Foes?
Governance in the age of year-round activism requires directors to continuously seek tools and information about the views of their shareholders, as well as insights on activist campaigns and methods of influence. Our panel will provide a brief look at the 2016 proxy season and activism before engaging in a more detailed conversation of key tactics and public responses by management and activists. Panelists will share experience from institutional investor, communications and legal perspectives on critical governance issues. In light of the outcomes of particular campaigns, is there a clear answer—are activist investors friends or foes?
