Speaker Spotlight

 

Peter Browning

Peter is the former Dean of the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte. He has served on the boards of 13 publicly traded companies including 10 years at Wachovia Corporation and 16 years at Lowe's Companies. In that time, he has been Chairman and CEO, CEO, non-executive chair, lead director and chair of audit, compensation, and governance/nominating committees. He is currently lead director of Acuity Brands, a member of the board of directors at ScanSource, Inc. and Equilar, and has served with EnPro Industries and Nucor Corporation.

Jim Rogers

Jim Rogers was the chairman of the board at Duke Energy until his retirement on December 31, 2013. He also served as Duke Energy's president and CEO from April 2006 until July 1, 2013. In the course of his career, Rogers has served on the boards of directors of eight Fortune 500 companies, and is currently a director of Cigna Corp. and Applied Materials Inc. Rogers also serves on the boards of the Aspen Institute, Brookings Institute, Duke University's Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions, The Nature Conservancy and Asia Society. He also serves on a number of advisory boards including Bloomberg’s Clean Energy Finance Group.

Stick Williams

Stick Williams is the former vice president of corporate community affairs for Duke Energy and president of The Duke Energy Foundation. Williams is co-chair of Project LIFT, an innovative philanthropic initiative to address educational issues in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools’ West Charlotte Corridor. He serves on the boards of directors of Hope Haven Inc. and the Bank of Commerce of North Carolina. He also serves on the board of advisors of the Carolinas HealthCare System. Williams is immediate past chairman of the board of directors of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte and the board of trustees of the Mint Museum. He is also past chairman of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill board of trustees, the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce and the UNC-Chapel Hill General Alumni Association. He is also a past board member of Communities In Schools of North Carolina.
